Coach Atmos' - Low Pass Frequency

The way which the character will fall asleep on the coach journey has been difficult to portray. We considered slowly overlapping the sound of the coach atmos and the dream sounds, as if the character slowly falls asleep.

However, after much editing practise using Pro Tools software, we discovered by decreasing the Low-Pass Frequency (LPF) takes away the high end spectrum of the sound (Treble) and creates a submerging effect, which clearly indicates that the character has transitioned from the coach into a sense of place. The sense of place essentially is created to be the character's dream, however people could interpret it to be the mind of someone, or someone on a coach listening to their headphones, etc.

The LPF will be decreased at the beginning of the dream to form the 'Dream' sense of place and the LPF will be increased at the end of the dream which will bring the sound back into reality, and back onto the coach.

Below is an example of the Coach Atmos' with the decreased LPF to enter the character's dream.

However, the LMF had to be automated before I could use the effect on a track. To do this, I ticked to the 'IN' button in the LPF section in the EQ 7-Band Plug In. Then I pressed the Auto symbol in the EQ, selected the Low-Pass Freq option and pressed the 'Add' button.

Then I could fully automate when the LPF would be decreased and increased.

The image below demonstrates the controls for the automation of the LPF...
