First Idea - Audio Only: 'Bathroom' Sense Of Place
Our first idea for our 'sense of place' project was to re-create someone waking up in the morning, then getting ready in their bathroom. We recorded individual sounds, e.g- toilet flush, a running tap, a shaver, the shower.
The sounds are recorded to a high standard, although the idea and creativeness of the soundtrack wasn't the direction we wanted to pursue.
After our 'crits' tutorial, and the feedback we received, we realised that the soundtrack is too predictable. Everyone knew what sound was coming next, and this came across quite boring. Although, the sounds we recorded were good quality and we had created a structured narrative throughout the soundtrack.
After re-evaluating our idea, we decided that we want to produce a soundtrack that individual people can interpret the work differently. We would achieve this by not including an obvious structure or narrative and incorporate surreal and hard to understand sounds which will make each individual person identify the meaning of the sounds differently.
Although my group is not pursuing our initial idea, we can still use some of the sounds we recorded and this first sound experiment has conditioned us to recording and editing sounds.
This track is the rough mix of our first Audio Only idea:
